Kitchen Remodeling
Is your kitchen frustrating to use? Maybe you can’t see the kids from the stove, there’s no place for people to gather, or the layout just doesn’t work for how your family lives.
Many homeowners spend years adapting to a kitchen that was designed for someone else.
It doesn’t have to be that way. We help families uncover what their kitchen is missing — whether that means opening a wall, adding an island, or rethinking the entire layout. Often, the solution is simpler than expected.
The result is a kitchen designed around your life, not the other way around.
Most people come to us thinking they already know what they need — and we understand why. You’ve lived in your kitchen for years. You know it isn’t working.
But before we talk about cabinets or countertops, we start by understanding how you actually live in the space. How does your family move through the room? Where does everyone naturally gather? What feels frustrating during everyday moments like making breakfast or helping with homework?
Often, the solution isn’t a bigger kitchen — it’s a smarter one. We transform disconnected or inefficient layouts into spaces that feel open, functional, and completely reimagined.
We’re master space planners. That’s not a tagline — it’s the foundation of how we design.
Project Cost: $187,947
Timeline: 13 Weeks
This kitchen was tiny and closed off — no island, no connection to the family room, and not enough walkway clearance to have two people cooking at the same time. We removed a wall, bumped out the space, and built a walnut island with antique white perimeter cabinets and white marble countertops.
“Charleene and the team truly transformed our home. They were helpful through the construction process, and we love our newly designed kitchen, mudroom, and bump-out! Thank you, Charleene and team!”
Project Cost: $869,937
Timeline: 24 Weeks
This family had a long, narrow kitchen with no real connection to the living room — a tough setup with four kids in the house. We widened the kitchen, added a coffee bar and a full bar area, created a new hallway with a powder room, and built a room over the family room.
Investment
Every kitchen package includes: Space planning and layout redesign, custom floor plans, elevations and 3D renderings, preconstruction video walkthrough, cabinet design and selection, countertop and backsplash selection, appliance placement and coordination, lighting plan, structural modifications where needed, and trade coordination.
We handle the whole thing. You have one team, one process, and one point of contact who knows your project inside and out.
You see exactly what you’re getting before a single wall comes down. Full floor plans, 3D renderings, and a video walkthrough of your finished space, all created before construction begins.
Our tradespeople have worked with Charleene’s Houses for 17 to 20 years. They know our standards, they respect our clients, and they show up. That consistency is something you can’t find with a company that’s hiring new crews every season.
We’re a woman-led firm, and we think that matters. We think about the morning school rush, where the backpacks land, and how the kitchen connects to the rest of the house. We design for how families actually live, not how a showroom says they should.
Our clients say it best.
Every project follows our proven four-step process. No surprises, no scope creep, no guesswork.
Discovery Call
We start at your home, discussing your daily routines, lifestyle, and frustrations. We listen deeply, take careful notes, and document your priorities so our design approach genuinely addresses your real-life challenges. This often reveals possibilities you might not have imagined.
Design
We develop custom floorplans, elevations, and 3D renderings based on your ideas, and we revise until the plans align perfectly with your vision. Every material, finish, and layout decision gets made on paper, before construction begins.
See what the design phase includes
Build
We finalize your budget, pull permits, and get to work. Your project manager is on site every day to keep things moving and address any issue that comes up. We keep the space clean and organized throughout, so your home stays livable.
Final Walkthrough
We walk through your renovated space together and take care of any finishing touches. You don’t sign off until everything is exactly right.
It depends on the scope, and we’re very upfront about ranges from the very first conversation. A smaller kitchen remodel starts at $95,000. Opening the kitchen up into the connected living spaces starts at $115,000. A full first-floor and kitchen remodel starts at $169,000, with the final number depending on the complexity of the project.
We’ll give you a realistic number before you sign a construction agreement, and we design to your budget, not above it.
Not at all. Most of our clients have a general idea — they know what’s not working, and they may have saved some inspiration photos. That’s plenty to start with. The design phase is where we figure out the rest together. You’ll see exactly what you’re getting before anything is finalized.
Sometimes a layout is actually fine and a cosmetic refresh does the job. More often, there’s a layout issue that’s making the kitchen feel frustrating, and updating finishes without addressing it just means a prettier version of the same problem. We’ll be honest with you about which one you’re dealing with.
In most cases, yes. We set expectations upfront about what to anticipate, we keep the site clean and organized, and we do everything we can to minimize disruption. We’ve been doing this for a long time — we know how to work in homes where families are living.
Yes, and we do this fairly regularly. If you’re already living through a project, it can make sense to combine scopes. We’ll talk through what makes sense during your discovery call.
We primarily serve northern Baltimore County, including Timonium, Lutherville, Towson, Phoenix, Monkton, Reisterstown, and Owings Mills. If you’re not sure whether we cover your area, just reach out.
A smaller kitchen remodel typically takes around 8 weeks of construction. A larger kitchen renovation is generally closer to 12 weeks. We’ll give you a specific timeline before construction starts and communicate with you every single week throughout.
Before any construction begins, we develop a full design plan for your space. This includes a floor plan, 3D renderings, and an in-person walkthrough of your proposed design. Once the layout is approved, we guide you through selecting finishes, lighting, hardware, and fixtures.
The design agreement fee starts at $950 and varies depending on the scope of your project. For home additions, an additional $1,800 engineering fee applies. The design fee is separate from your construction investment.
