Our designers used Chief Architect software to develop detailed 3D architectural renderings, so the family could see exactly how their new first floor would look and feel. We also curated physical samples of every paint color, countertop, cabinetry finish, and hardware.
The plan widened the kitchen, built out a new hallway, added a dedicated bar and coffee bar area, created a first-floor powder room, and incorporated a mudroom with a combined laundry space, all working together to make the main floor more connected, more functional, and finally in sync with the character of the rest of the home.
Widening the kitchen made room for a large island with seating for the whole family, and the Calacatta countertops, shaker white cabinetry, and warm gold pendant lights turned a space that once felt like a bottleneck into one that invites people to gather.
The widened footprint made room for a round dining table next to the coffee bar, giving the family an everyday spot to eat, linger, and stay close to whoever’s cooking.
What was once a missing piece on the main floor became one of the most thoughtfully finished spaces in the house, with a dark brown oak vanity, textured wallpaper, gold sconces, and a black-framed mirror that give it the kind of personality a family of six fully deserves.
Built as a combined laundry and drop zone, this space handles the daily chaos of a busy family with a built-in bench, brass coat hooks, white shaker cabinetry, and bold blue patterned wallpaper that makes it one of the most fun rooms to walk through.
Bar Area and Coffee Bar: A dedicated coffee and bar area was added to the first floor, keeping daily routines off the kitchen counters and giving everyone in the family their own corner of the morning.
Serena White Tile Backsplash: Installed in the kitchen and coffee bar for a clean, classic backdrop that holds its own against the Calacatta countertops.
Honey Bronze Hardware: Used throughout the kitchen, laundry, and pantry cabinetry to carry a warm, consistent finish from room to room.
Utensil Pull-Out: A built-in pull-out that keeps the most-reached-for tools right where they're needed, without cluttering a single drawer.
Double Trash Pull-Out: Keeps waste and recycling tucked away and out of sight, without giving up a square inch of floor space.
Spice Drawer: A dedicated drawer that eliminates the cabinet shuffle that builds up fast in a kitchen cooking for six.
New Room Above the Family Room: Additional square footage was added above the second-story family room, expanding the home's footprint as the family's needs grow.
What started as a narrow, disconnected kitchen became a first floor this family loves. Every space, from the wide-open kitchen to the finished powder room to the mudroom that greets them at the door, works together the way a home for six people should.
